Job Summary

The Parts Manager is responsible for the strategic sourcing, inventory management, and organization of automotive parts, ensuring the timely availability of rare and hard-to-find items to support seamless shop operations. This role requires exceptional research and procurement skills, leveraging online platforms, global networks, and reproduction methods to source and manage parts efficiently. The Parts Manager will also lead innovative efforts to create new parts using advanced reproduction techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Parts Procurement and Research:
    • Utilize global networks, online marketplaces, and industry contacts to source rare and vintage automotive parts.
    • Employ a proactive approach to sourcing, including calling, emailing, and maintaining follow-ups with suppliers and partners.
    • Research and evaluate new suppliers and reproduction techniques to expand the availability of parts.

  •  Inventory Management:
    • Oversee the organization and stocking of parts inventory to ensure all shop operations run smoothly and without delays.
    • Develop and maintain an inventory system to track parts availability and minimize shortages within the company dealer management system (DMS)
    • Perform regular audits of inventory to assess stock levels and reordering needs.

  • Rare Parts Reproduction:
    • When necessary, lead the initiative to produce new parts through reproduction methods, ensuring quality and authenticity for vintage vehicles.
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to create custom solutions for hard-to-find parts.

  • Team Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with shop managers, technicians, and other departments to anticipate and fulfill parts needs efficiently.
    • Provide updates on sourcing progress and delivery timelines to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Strong online research skills, including experience with global e-commerce and sourcing platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage complex inventories and supply chains.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and foster relationships with vendors worldwide.
  • Knowledge of automotive reproduction methods and technologies.
