More details
This 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster has been comprehensively re-engineered with a focus on turbocharged performance, drivability, and long-term durability. Built around a 3.3L flat-six, the engine features 2mm over Nikasil pistons and cylinders, extrude-honed heads, and upgraded oil pump gearing. A Turbonetics P-Trim Hi-Fi turbo is paired with a full-width intercooler, stainless steel equal-length headers (1 5/8” primaries, 2” secondaries), a 42mm wastegate and muffler, and a single large exhaust outlet. Boost is monitored via a 2-bar gauge and controlled through an LED E.V.C. wastegate controller.
Fuel delivery includes a Porsche Power fuel head, Porsche Tech fuel injectors, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and two large turbo fuel pumps. Intake and airflow modifications include a 6-bolt Hone manifold and a K&N air filter system. Ignition and engine management are supported by revised ECU software, two additional CD boxes, and high-intensity spark ignition.
The camshafts are Porsche Tech units with a Sport Carreras Group B grind. Supporting systems include a stainless A/C condenser with fan, updated air conditioning hoses and drier, a heater box sourced from the oil cooler, and a racing-grade AMZ oil filter system. Additional details include a DW fuel detail motor and a short shifter kit, along with pedal-mounted auxiliary gauges.
Chassis and suspension upgrades include coil-over Bilstein rear suspension, Bilstein front struts, and keyed Turbo wheels. Braking is updated with vented and drilled rotors, DS11 race pads, Porsche 930 front calipers, and billet aluminum adapters. A limited-slip differential is fitted, and the car includes 300+ photos taken during the build process.
Additional equipment includes a mobile telephone with hands-free functionality and an Alpine digital remote radar detector. Built with both performance and usability in mind, this Speedster represents a detailed and mechanically focused upgrade to Porsche’s limited-production 1989 open-top platform.
