More details
The Ferrari F40 was built with a singular purpose: to push the limits of what a road legal Ferrari could be. Developed to celebrate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary and positioned as the successor to the 288 GTO, the F40 arrived at the height of the 1980s performance war, going head to head with Porsche’s 959. Where Porsche leaned into advanced electronics and all wheel drive, Ferrari took the opposite approach, lightweight construction, twin turbo power, and raw, unfiltered response.
Chassis 9120 was delivered new to the official Ferrari dealer M. Gastone Crepaldi Automobili S.a.s. in Milan, Italy. It would go on to spend the majority of its life in Japan, traveling nearly 27,000 kilometers under long term ownership. During this time, it was consistently serviced and maintained by Cornes, Ferrari’s authorized concessionaire in Japan, known for its high standards and factory-level support.
Today, the car shows 28,700 kilometers and remains in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition, retaining its original body panels and interior materials.
Powered by a 2.9 liter twin turbocharged V8 producing 478 horsepower, the F40 delivers blistering acceleration and one of the most visceral driving experiences ever engineered for the road. Performance includes zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 324 kilometers per hour.
Beyond its road presence, the F40 also proved its capabilities on track. In racing form as the F40 LM, it competed successfully in the BPR Global GT Series and IMSA GTO, with drivers including Jean Alesi, Jacques Laffite, and Hurley Haywood behind the wheel.
With its combination of racing pedigree, raw performance, and documented international history, chassis 9120 is a compelling example of Ferrari’s most celebrated road car.
