Hand-assembled at Callaway’s Leingarten facility in Germany, the Callaway C12 was a bold evolution of American performance and European craftsmanship. Its carbon-Kevlar composite bodywork, designed by Paul Deutschman alongside IVM Engineering, gave the C12 both lightweight strength and a distinctive silhouette.

Chassis #12 holds particular significance as the very first C12 Cabriolet produced, one of 25 total C12s. It served as Callaway’s promotional vehicle at the 1999 New York and Detroit Auto Shows before being delivered to its original owner, Tommy Mottola, then Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment.

Finished in a special-order Silver paint—an $8,400 option—the car also features the Cabriolet configuration with a manual soft-top and integrated headrests, adding another $19,800 to the build. The original MSRP totaled a staggering $178,700.

Inside, the optional Interior Leather Group supplied premium red and black Connolly hides paired with Wilton Wool carpeting, a $12,500 upgrade. Two-tone leather details extend to the steering wheel, door panels, lower dashboard, console cover, inner sills, and B-pillars.

Powered by a 440-horsepower V8, the C12 Cabriolet combined race-inspired engineering with bespoke craftsmanship, making it one of the most unique and exclusive American supercars of its era.
