More details
The Lamborghini Diablo SV represented the most driver-focused expression of the Diablo range during the 1990s. Introduced as a lighter, more performance-oriented alternative within Lamborghini’s flagship lineup, the SV combined rear-wheel drive, increased power, and aggressive styling to create one of the defining supercars of its era. As the final evolution of Lamborghini’s pre-Audi V12 platform, the Diablo SV remains one of the purest and most engaging road cars ever to emerge from Sant’Agata.
Chassis ZA9DE22A0VLA12840 was delivered new on December 15, 1997 in Germany, finished in Giallo Fly over Nero. Believed to be one of just 57 examples produced in this specification, the car presents in one of the most iconic color combinations offered on the Diablo SV. The engine number remains matched to the chassis, confirming it as a numbers-matching example.
Following its delivery, the car spent the majority of its life in Europe, with documented periods in Germany, Austria, and Slovakia before later transitioning to the Middle East. In early 2025, after nearly three decades abroad, the Diablo was imported to the United States.
Shortly after arriving stateside, the car underwent a comprehensive engine-out service totaling more than $38,000. The scope included extensive valve adjustment and timing verification, fuel system servicing, replacement of rubber fuel lines, ignition servicing, intake and throttle system inspection, cooling system attention, electrical repairs, diagnostic review, and numerous preventative maintenance items. Following completion of the work, the car was displayed during Monterey Car Week 2025 before receiving additional servicing, detailing, and refinement. Combined recent expenditures exceed $50,000.
Today, chassis 2840 presents in its factory color combination of Giallo Fly over Nero and shows just 10,540 kilometers, approximately 6,549 miles, at the time of cataloging. An updated Alpine audio system has been installed, while the factory catalytic converters remain with the car. Accompanying the vehicle are its original factory accessories, including the Lamborghini gloves, complete USAG tool roll, factory flashlight, tire inflator, spare accessory belts, tow hook, and associated tool pouches.
The Diablo SV occupies a special place within Lamborghini history as one of the final analog V12 supercars produced before the turn of the millennium. Combining low mileage, numbers-matching status, long-term European provenance, extensive recent mechanical investment, and one of the marque’s most recognizable color combinations, chassis 2840 represents a highly compelling example of Lamborghini’s most uncompromising Diablo.
